Country of the Week: Egypt / World Street Kitchen
Today the kids and I headed to downtown Minneapolis for an international culinary adventure. I’ve always wanted to visit a food truck, so when I read about World Street Kitchen it seemed like a perfect way to blend a fun summer outing with our Country of the Week.
The menu at the truck constantly rotates, but I had my fingers crossed that they’d be serving Kofta meatballs today. Alas, they were not. But we hardly missed the meatballs as we dined on the absolutely fabulous Yum-Yum Rice Bowl (Korean-style chicken served over steamed rice, with Chinese broccoli, shitake mushrooms, soft-cooked egg, cilantro, peanuts, crispy onion, and a secret sauce) and Red Curry Chicken Tacos. Andrew described the tacos as “amazing” and even better than Taco Bell. High praise, indeed.
After lunch, we stopped to people watch at the Farmers’ Market on Nicollet Mall. (I wonder what Lexie’s jotting in her “ideas” notebook?)
I’m already planning our next trip back to World Street Kitchen for their salted caramel ice cream sandwiches….
