Welcome

Hello! My name is Shannon Taylor. I'm a former editor living in the woods of Wisconsin with my husband, four children, and lots of pets. I created this blog as a place to gather my thoughts and share ideas as I squeeze in some writing whenever the kids aren't looking.

Whole Wheat Pumpkin Squares with Cream Cheese Frosting

The weather has been warm and not very fall-like, but I’m still craving pumpkin squares with cream cheese frosting. It must be the pumpkins popping up on doorsteps. I think this version from the Mother Huddle looks really good. The recipe calls for two cups of whole wheat flour, so I think they qualify as healthy.

We’re having Great-Grandma’s birthday party here on Sunday, so I might make the pumpkin bars for the kids. I also need to make a Cafe Latte Turtle Cake—Grandma pointed out that I’ve never made it for her.

Are there special foods you crave in the fall?

Mmm…this looks good. I’ve been hoarding pumpkin recipes and am struggling to decide on just one to make this weekend. I’m also really craving soup.

This looks yummy- I will have to try it. In Fall I crave roasted veggies, especially acorn squash! I also crave apple cider, carrot soup ( a recipe I learned from Molly Katzen’s cook book), and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting! Happy Fall!

Marilyn, I’ll be making your pumpkin cookies any minute (and eating them while reading “The Runaway Pumpkin”).
