Welcome

Hello! My name is Shannon Taylor. I'm a former editor living in the woods of Wisconsin with my husband, four children, and lots of pets. I created this blog as a place to gather my thoughts and share ideas as I squeeze in some writing whenever the kids aren't looking.

DIY: Easy Halloween Silhouettes

I tried my hand at a witch silhouette picture yesterday and I’m happy with how it turned out. It’s a wonderfully simple project. You just need a frame, some old-looking paper, and a silhouette. I found the paper at JoAnn’s in the scrapbook section. It’s not particularly Halloween-esque, but I like the old-fashioned look of it. I bought the frame at JoAnn’s, too. I think the black is fine, but I think a frame that’s a little more distressed or gothic-looking would be even better.

You can find the witch template at Martha Stewart dot com. She has a bunch of other designs, too, like ravens and pumpkins and bats. You could make a whole collection of these and tuck them all over the house. And a Halloween silhouette would make a great hostess gift for a Halloween party.

Too cute. I’m going to give it a try. Thanks for finding the paper. That’s always the hard part.

It occurred to me after I wrote this that I could stick these on top of other pictures and photos, just for Halloween.
