Welcome

Hello! My name is Shannon Taylor. I'm a former editor living in the woods of Wisconsin with my husband, four children, and lots of pets. I created this blog as a place to gather my thoughts and share ideas as I squeeze in some writing whenever the kids aren't looking.

About

Welcome to A Mom’s Year. I’m so glad you stopped by. This is me and my daughter, Lexie, on her birthday. Great-Grandma Marilyn is here, too, and you can just see Will in the corner.

I started this blog in January of 2011 for many reasons. To get back into the practice of writing, to organize thoughts and ideas that would help me run my home and take care of my family, and to chronicle our adventures. Along the way, I realized a blog is a wonderful way to meet like-minded people who inspire me in ways I never could have imagined.

In a former life I was a magazine and textbook editor. I created Spirit magazine for Special Olympics International and got paid to read Jane Austen and Shakespeare. Now I live in the woods of Wisconsin (just a stone’s throw from the Twin Cities) with my husband, Tim, and our four kids, a black lab, two cats, a guinea pig, and two fish.

Here’s the whole crew. Me, Lily, Will, Lexie, Andrew, and Tim.
