A Mom's Year

Creating a comfortable life one moment at a time

Pinocchio Felted Wool Rug

Here’s some eye candy for you. Almost literally. This colorful rug from the Danish company Hay is called Pinocchio after the round Danish candies the felted balls resemble. Don’t you think it could keep a baby entertained for hours? Or a cat? Actually, they’re not inexpensive so you might want to keep the cat away.

If you’re feeling ambitious you could make your own felted wool balls using this tutorial and then string them all together into a rug. A great winter project! I was almost able to write that with a straight face. You’d have to make, like, a million balls. But it’s still a nice idea.

  • Will and I tested this Chocolate Beer Truffle recipe over the weekend. So good. It’ll be our contribution to the Super Bowl festivities next week since Tim can’t drink beer yet. (No alcohol for 18 months after a spinal cord injury. Poor guy.) Will enjoyed the scandal of handling beer. All three tablespoons of it.
  • Have a go at this style quiz over at Stylish Home. I’m an Antiquated Espresso. What are you?
  • These organic wooden teethers are so sweet.
  • It’s Lily’s turn to bring treats for school on Wednesday. Which happens to be Groundhog Day. I wonder if we can make 19 of these groundhog cupcakes by then.

This rug is beautiful. I think I’d have more trouble with my dog than my cat with this in the house. What a neat idea though.
Good luck with those cupcakes. I think about doing them every year and then I don’t. They’re so cute. : )

Those cupcakes are adorable! Can you get away with making one in the center of a tray, and thenhaving “plain” white ones all around it?
Or green frosted ones, in the hopes that he sees his shadow (or doesn’t – I always forget which I want!) and we’ll have grass again someday?

Can’t wait for the finished truffles! Wish I could have the rest of the Guiness. Soon enough.

I just had a vision of golden retriever hair all over that rug. Good thing I can’t afford it anyway. But it’s so fun to look at.

I think you’re on to something, Jackie. We could make cupcakes with green frosting (for grass) and then Lily can color some groundhog print-outs, we’ll slap ’em on a popsicle stick, stick ’em in the cupcakes, and voila! Coloring 19 groundhogs should keep her entertained for the evening, shouldn’t it?

Tattoos were covered up, Rosacea, birth marks –
it seemed to be able to do a fantastic job at covering without actually looking like makeup.
Your face is the first thing someone is presented with
upon meeting you, so your outward appearance and skin condition is undoubtedly and inevitably
noticed. Anti-oxidant chemicals are valued for their wide healing actions.
