Even though I’m not a mother, this quote really resonates with me. As I’m professionally struggling to reconcile myself with “good enough” rather perfect, I find the spirit of this quote to be widely applicable. Thanks for sharing these encouraging words.

You know, we were actually only in DC for about 24 hours this last time. 🙂 We just had a quick errand to take care of and then decided to spend Easter with the congregation we’d been a part of prior to moving. The church is not far from Union Station. Actually, it was sort of funny when we started attending a NY church and a woman in the congregation, who visits family in DC frequently, asked for a church recommendation in DC. We recommended our old church which she has now attended. So, we sort of swapped churches. 🙂

You’ll have to tell me if Poetry 180 appeals to your kids. It’s because of that project that I’ve just started reading some Billy Collins poetry for the first time, so it really made me smile to see “The Lanyard” on your blog.

Welcome

Hello! My name is Shannon Taylor. I'm a long-time writer and editor from Minnesota surprised to find myself on an island in the Pacific Northwest. I'm sharing this adventure with my husband, four kids, and two dogs. I “published” my first newsletter when I was nine, and I’ve loved sharing ideas, stories, and information ever since. I hope you find something here to inspire you and help you create a comfortable, cozy life.

I generally get along well with myself, but someti I generally get along well with myself, but sometimes I make me crazy. Case in point: some BHS staff want to order some more of the Sparty Snowman cards we gave them for Christmas. Great! It occurs to me that I should add Happy Crow Press and our website info to the back of the cards. And here’s where I drive myself crazy: I think, “Can publishing companies make books AND cards? Do any other companies do that?” Am I serious?! Who cares what other companies do? Maybe we’ll be the first one to do it! Like Muriel Strode said, “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”
