A Mom's Year

Creating a comfortable life one moment at a time

January 11, 2013

Goldie

It was a year ago today that our beautiful golden retriever, Gunther, passed away. I miss him every day. Tim says he was a once-in-a-lifetime dog. I think he’s right, although the thought of that makes me sad.

Ironically, Goldie the Goldfish is alive and well. Lily won her at the school Sock Hop last January. I was under the impression that carnival-won fish tend not to live very long, but Goldie’s still going strong. We’re gonna need a bigger bowl.

I can’t believe it has been a year since you lost Gunther. Your special once in a lifetime dog will not be forgotten. We have three Malone Carnival goldfish in our pond and they have made it through several winters outside.

Maybe it’s time for an outdoor pond….

Welcome

Hello! My name is Shannon Taylor. I'm a long-time writer and editor from Minnesota surprised to find myself on an island in the Pacific Northwest. I'm sharing this adventure with my husband, three younger children (our oldest goes to college in Chicago), and two dogs. This blog is where I gather my thoughts and share my favorite things. I hope you find something here to inspire you and maybe even help you feel a little more ready to tackle your day.
