Our wonderful Alexandra turns 21 today. 21!!! Her wisdom, compassion, kindness, integrity, adventurous spirit, and humor have brought so much joy to the lives of those of us lucky enough to know her. And, as if all that weren't enough, there's her art.

On her first day of illustration class this week, the professor gave everyone a fortune cookie and told them to come up with an illustration in 2-1/2 hours based on the fortune. Alexandra's fortune had the Chinese word for "carrot" on the back, so she used that as a prompt and created this. I love thinking about how delighted the professor must've been—it's the same delight I've felt since the day Alexandra first picked up a crayon and began to share her vision of the world—a vision that can bring joy or make you think (sometimes both), but always inspires.

Happy birthday, darling girl! We love you!
